Tsutenkaku Tower

(Construction of the second Tsutenkaku Tower in 1956, Renovation in 2012)

Tsutenkaku Tower is an outstanding observation tower in Osaka.
It holds the golden observation deck and mini museum consisting of an exhibition room, theatre, etc.

Mie Prefectural Kumano Kodo Center

Wooden Structure, total floor space 1,721 m2 (Owase-shi, Mie)

This center is located within the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a source of information on Kumano's nature, history and culture. It consists of a regular exhibition room, multipurpose exchange lobby, etc.
The center's structure is a world first, featuring stacked wooden members with uniform cross-sections that are made from 6,500 Owase cypress trees. It was awarded the 40th Chubu Architecture Award (2008), the 49th Building Contractors Society Prize (2008), the Annual Architectural Design Commendation from the Architectural Institute of Japan (2009), the Japan Institute of Architects Award (2009), and the MLIT Minister's Award from the Public Buildings Association (2012).

Okumura Commemorative Museum

RC Structure, partially S Structure, two-storied + basement, total floor area 550 m2, Seismic Isolation System (Nara-shi)

This was constructed for the centennial anniversary of Okumura Corporation.
Its design fits into the surrounding environment of the ancient capital Nara.
The 13th Nara Prefecture Scenery Design Award's Governor Prize (2019), the 10th JSSI (the Japan Society of Seismic Isolation) Award's Best Work Award (Diffusion Award) (2009) awarded

Inubozaki Lighthouse (Choshi-shi, Chiba)

This system ensures ocean safety nationwide.
The 9th JSSI (Japan Society of Seismic Isolation) Awards' Technical Award (2008) was awarded.

Adminstrative building of Okumura Corporation Technical Research Institute

(Constructed in 1986, Renovated into a ZEB (net Zero Energy Building) in 2020)

RC Structure, four-storied, total floor area 1,330 m2 (Tsukuba-shi, Ibaragi)

First building to put seismic isolation technology into practical use in Japan.
The history of Japanese seismic isolation systems started with this building.

Funagawa Dam

(Nyuzen-machi, Shimoniikawa-gun, Toyama) 2012

Multipurpose dam to adjust flooding, maintain normal function of flowing water and secure water to melt snow

Tokyo Electric Power Company Kannagawa Power Plant

(Ueno-mura, Tano-gun, Gunma) 2011

World's largest class pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant, constructed on Kannna River, part of the Tone River system in Gumma Prefecture.
The world's first construction of a 48-degree steeply inclined headrace tunnel by the full-face inclined shaft TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) method
In 2005, JSCE (Japan Society of Civil Engineers) Awards' Innovative Technique Award awarded

Shin-Meishin Expressway Higashi-Uneno Tunnel

(Between Minoh-shi, Osaka, and Kawanishi-shi, Hyogo) 2017

Constructed Higashi-Uneno Tunnel (inbound line 2,124 m; outbound line 1,997 m) with the NATM method between Takatsuki Interchange and Kobe Junction. JSCE Kansai Branch Innovative Technique Award Category Prize was awarded for the achievement of precasting large section box culverts (tunnel wall 79 m2).

Hanshin Namba Line between Nishikujo Station and Kujo Station

(Osaka-shi) 2010

Out of the 3.4-km railway between Hanshin Nishikujo Station and Kintetsu Namba Station, Okumura Corporation constructed Nishikujo and Kujo Station buildings, a 656-meter elevated bridge and a 486-meter cut-and-cover tunnel; total extension of 1,351 m.
Along the above-ground sections, half-sheltered noise barriers have been installed in locations close to residential areas.

Kitakami Canal Disaster Restoration

(Higashimatsushima-shi, Miyagi) 2016

Restoration of Kitakami Canal damaged by East Japan Great Earthquake and its tsunami. Restored extension 4,272 m, banking mound 106,300 m3.

Shoreline protection work off Port Island

(Kobe-shi) 2006

Port Island is an artificial island in Kobe Harbor. Kobe Bridge and Port Island Tunnel connect Metro-Kobe and Port Island, providing the island with general urban functions.

Outer underground discharge channel Ootoshifuru Tone River Connecting Tunnel

(Kasukabe-shi, Saitama) 2005

This facility discharges floodwater into the Edo River during extreme rainfall and lessens the erosion damage of low-lying areas between three rivers: the Edo, Naka and Ootoshifuru Tone rivers.
Slurry shield tunnel with a bore diameter of 6.3 m, ordered through our design-build system.

Hyuga-shi General Waste Final Disposal Site

(Hyuga-shi, Miyazaki) 1999

Final disposal site to bury incombustible waste and the residue of combusted general waste from Hyuga-shi and its suburbs.
Landfill capacity of 127,000 m3, equivalent to the 15 years' waste.

Inoue Park Swimming Arena, Toyota-shi

RC Structure, partially S Structure, two-storied, total floor area 2,888 m2 (Toyota-shi, Aichi)

This is modeled after 'a dewdrop on a leaf.'
Plan view and cross-section view are both elliptically designed, and half of the upper structure is RC Structure and the other half is S Structure. The exterior is covered with aluminum and glass units.
Truss wall construction adapted.

Suginami Waste Disposal Facility 2017 (Suginami-ku, Tokyo) SRC Structure, RC Structure, S Structure, six-storied + basement, total floor area 26,738 m2

As interest in environmentally sound society grows, it has become an important issue to work actively toward the promotion of a recycling-oriented society. Okumura Corporation has been working actively to promote a recycling-oriented society and constructing recycling facilities, resource-recycling facilities using biomass, and the like.

Shredding and sorting operation of a huge amount of disaster waste from the Great East Japan Earthquake. In order to conduct disaster waste disposal efficiently as the first step toward reconstruction, Okumura Corporation developed the Disaster Waste Integrated Management System to control dump truck traffic and unify management of category and weight of loaded waste.
